"I grew up on a farm in south-central Kansas. Describing it as subtle is something of an understatement. During my childhood I learned to observe very carefully and saw beauty in those long, flat, monotonous fields. I have photographed in many places, but my point of reference is always formed by the empty, minimalist Kansas landscape of my youth."
