"I began taking pictures with a Kodak point-and-shoot when I was 8 years old. Since then my gear has changed but my love for photography hasn't. In the newspaper business since college, I trace my photographic roots back to my grandfather Rex Hardy Jr., who was a photographer for Life Magazine in the 1930s documenting Hollywood and New York City. Drawn to the narratives that unforld from everyday situations, I am committed to documenting my community and the people who live here. The stuff of daily life inspires my pictures: family, friends, transitory moments, small towns, emptiness, silence, and intimacy and familiarity often overlooked in the passing of time. I live in Missoula, Montana with my wife Krista, and our dog Oslo."

"My wife Krista grew up in Montana and for the past five years I have been slowly falling in love with it to the point where last summer we decided to move here. I have spent my entire life in major cities and finally came to the conclusion that I needed an escape. I wanted a peace of mind that is often lost in the hustle and bustle of city living. I traded the anonymity of crowded streets, buses and markets for the miles and miles and miles of empty land. In a state where cows out number people 3 to 1, I can't help but be drawn to the loneliness and isolation."
