Sara Serrao was the winner of the first ever Paul Auster - Definitive Website competition. Since then she has become increasingly involved in setting future competitions. Sara was born on 30th January 1976 in a town not far from Milan, Italy. She still lives in Milan with her pets, (two dogs and four cats).

When Sara was 12 she decided that she wanted to study foreign languages because "I had a dream - I would be a journalist and interview famous rock bands :)" Sara developed a great passion for prose and poetry and finally graduated in English Literature and Journalism with a thesis on the National Geographic. Sara's very keen on animals, photography, U2, cinema and Paul Auster's works "which I discovered thanks to my mum, she being a tireless literary talent-scout". The first novel Sara loved was Timbuktu.
